Frederick Fiber MD


Dr Fiber has been in practice as an Ear Nose and Thoat Surgeon since 1969.  His training began at Semmelweis Medical University in Budapest, Hungary, and continued with his residency at Columbia University in New York City. Dr Fiber came to the USA after escaping from then Communist Eastern Europe. It was an exciting journey. Dr. Fiber is Board Certified in Europe and by the American Board of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery. He served as an Associate Professor at the University of New Mexico Medical School and Chief of Otolaryngology at the Albuquerque Veterans Administration Hospital from 1975 to 1977. After a few years of practice in tropical Hawaii at Kaiser Permanente, Dr Fiber returned to Albuquerque to open his private practice in Albuquerque in 1983.

Dr. Fiber specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of sinus and vocal cord disorders, as well as vertigo, diseases of the ear, and cancer of the head and neck. He also has over 20 years of experience with surgical and cosmetic lasers.

Dr Fiber maintains privileges at both Presbyterian and Lovelace hospitals and has served as Chief of ENT for multiple terms at both facilities over the last 25 years.

Sheryl Cerveny, Practice Manager

Ms. Cerveny has been managing medical practices since 1982. She was trained in Social Work at the University of Oklahoma and in Business at Canada College in California. Ms Cerveny came to New Mexico in 1992 to manage medical practices and later property management for the St. Joseph Healthcare System. She joined New Mexico Ear Nose and Throat Specialists in 2000.

Dorothy BrattonDorothy McCurley, AuD

Dr. McCurley has been a licensed and practicing Audiologist since 1984. She was trained at the University of New Mexico and obtained her Master’s Degree in Audiology from the University of Denver. In 2008, Dr. McCurley was awarded the degree of Doctor of Audiology for the University of Florida.

Dr. McCurley joined NM Ear Nose and Throat Specialists in 1986. She specializes in diagnostic Audiology and vestibular testing, as well as the dispensing of hearing aids. Dr. McCurley is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.

Doris VelasqueDoris Velasque, Audiology Assistant

Doris Velasquez came to New Mexico ENT Specialists in May 2007 as a Certified Medical Assistant. She began working in the Audiology Department and became very interested in the field of Audiology. She completed her Audiology Assistant training in July 2008 with Nova Southeastern University. She is currently working toward becoming a licensed hearing instrument specialist.
